Acknowledgement of Country
Esk State School acknowledges the Dungibara People as the traditional custodians of these lands, skies and waterways. We acknowledge the importance of the relationship with the neighbouring nations of the Yuggera and Jinibara Peoples. We pay our respects to the Elders past and present, and recognise they hold the memories, traditions, cultures and aspirations of their nations. As a school we look towards the young people and emerging leaders of these nations as well, and of the community more broadly, as they will help to shape the future together.
A better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures develops an enriched appreciation and understanding of Australia's cultural heritage and can lead to reconciliation. This is essential to the maturity of Australia as a Nation and fundamental to the development of an Australian identity.

Country schools are a viable choice when selecting where your child is to be
educated. The difference is in the school size, culture and the climate - not the quality of teaching nor the opportunities on offer.
Esk State School is interested in your story and collaboratively working beside you to bring out the best in your child and maximize their learning.
As the student numbers here at Esk are smaller than in larger city schools, the children get to know each other very well and will frequently grow up and learn beside the same kids, their friends, for many years. There is continuity in learning, as a teacher may well have the same students several years in a row, or at different stages in their development.
Our teachers, who live in the surrounding community, get to know students' learning styles, personalities and areas of need very well. It also means that our staff invest a lot of themselves in their work and take pride and care in what they do.
