Dirran Yani is an area of the school that has been set aside as a place of learning regarding the First Nations people.
The area was initially developed as an environmental learning space (1980's), but was later established as Dirran Yani by the Toowoomba Pipeline Alliance in association with the Yuggera Cultural Services, representing the Yuggera Nations. The work was completed around the same time that Pipeliner Park was established in town, in June 2010.
Since then, drought and neglect had taken its toll, and work commenced in 2020 to re-establish and develop this space into an interactive learning environment for both students and visitors to the school.
QR codes are mounted around the area, and throughout the school. These QR links will take you to spaces within our website where videos and cultural notes are available. Our dream is to establish an interactive space where our local First Nations People are recognised, and their histories, culture and knowledges about Country may be shared. In the interim, we have accessed footage from other sources.
